Janet Whyte Caruso (she/her)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and New Jersey who proudly obtained my Master’s in Social Work at Hunter College and my Bachelor’s in Social Work at Adelphi University. I am dedicated to providing high-quality empathetic mental health care for teens, adults, couples, and families. Built on the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for meaningful growth, I strive to create a safe, collaborative environment tailored to your strengths, and will work side by side with you to achieve your goals. I have a passion for working with teens and adults who experience anxiety, relationship challenges, and struggle with self-esteem. I am dedicated to providing tools to help you learn how to be more in control of difficult emotions and improve stress levels, sleep, interpersonal relationships, and find increased happiness in day to day life.
As a therapist, I am committed to continued learning and growth and have advanced my training to become certified as a Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I assist individuals experiencing Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, OCD, Social Anxiety, and Phobias, in addition to everyday anxiety and stress, in finding ways to better manage anxiety and reconnect with the present moment. I also have specialized training in working with individuals and/or couples seeking to improve their relationships and wishing to develop greater relational self-awareness. If you are curious to learn more about yourself in order to benefit the relationships you have with others, I would be happy to accompany you on this journey towards increased connection, communication with intention, empathy, and peace. In my practice, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic, and Humanistic Therapies, tailoring my approach based on your unique needs.
I am an advocate for making time for self-care, and some of my own favorite ways to do this include practicing yoga, traveling, going to the beach, and spending quality time with family, friends, and my two dogs.
Whether you are experiencing mental health concerns or if you would like to find support in working through life transitions, social and relationship challenges, or anxiety and chronic stress, I will work together with you to find better ways of coping so that you can live a happy and authentic life.
